I would skip the audiobook version and take the time for reading the text version。 I usually process audiobooks very well but found myself lost somewhat。 I don't think it's a perfectly accessible book but it still has great lessons and I did enjoy what I understood。 I got mostly what I already know from physics and astronomy classes from this but I feel like my choice to listen on audiobook was a major factor in not getting more。 I would skip the audiobook version and take the time for reading the text version。 I usually process audiobooks very well but found myself lost somewhat。 I don't think it's a perfectly accessible book but it still has great lessons and I did enjoy what I understood。 I got mostly what I already know from physics and astronomy classes from this but I feel like my choice to listen on audiobook was a major factor in not getting more。 。。。more

Profound and enlightening discoveries of physics explained in concise and easy to understand illustrations。 It’s so humbling to learn that the world （or cosmos） we live in is beyond the understanding of our limited minds and that we are actually limited by space and time while the most parts of the cosmos aren’t。 Indeed the unseen is vaster than the seen。Yet at a tiny corner of the universe， we who seem as so fragile and trivial can share love and belief and creat things that out live us， are no Profound and enlightening discoveries of physics explained in concise and easy to understand illustrations。 It’s so humbling to learn that the world （or cosmos） we live in is beyond the understanding of our limited minds and that we are actually limited by space and time while the most parts of the cosmos aren’t。 Indeed the unseen is vaster than the seen。Yet at a tiny corner of the universe， we who seem as so fragile and trivial can share love and belief and creat things that out live us， are nothing but a miracle。 So I guess I’m inclined not to agree with the last section where we humans are believed no more significant than other creatures。 Nevertheless we are all in a journey to understand the world more and ready to embrace the truth as it unveils itself to us。 。。。more

I was disappointed with this book mainly because I was excited to see physics （ which I’m interested in ） presented in a simple way for a wider audience。 Now I’m not an expert or anything but one of the main reasons I’m drawn to physics is because of the simplicity of these beautiful and seemingly complex theories when it really comes down to it。 But Rovelli didn’t illustrate this， his writing style is wordy and kind of pretentious。 I will also point out that the lessons are very brief and read I was disappointed with this book mainly because I was excited to see physics （ which I’m interested in ） presented in a simple way for a wider audience。 Now I’m not an expert or anything but one of the main reasons I’m drawn to physics is because of the simplicity of these beautiful and seemingly complex theories when it really comes down to it。 But Rovelli didn’t illustrate this， his writing style is wordy and kind of pretentious。 I will also point out that the lessons are very brief and read more like an introduction than an actual “lesson”。 There were some very nice ideas that were presented in the book however it seemed that rovelli was more interested in delicate prose than a book about physics。 。。。more

i picked this book up on a whim， expecting to hate it， as i have had no real interest in physics during my junior science years。 however， rovelli surprised me。 he made the concepts of general relatively， quantum physics， blackholes and thermodynamics understandable， accessible and at times， beautiful。 he has a really entrancing writing style， and the 'in closing' chapter was insightful and put these lessons into perspective。 honestly， i did find at times to be a little confused， and had to read i picked this book up on a whim， expecting to hate it， as i have had no real interest in physics during my junior science years。 however， rovelli surprised me。 he made the concepts of general relatively， quantum physics， blackholes and thermodynamics understandable， accessible and at times， beautiful。 he has a really entrancing writing style， and the 'in closing' chapter was insightful and put these lessons into perspective。 honestly， i did find at times to be a little confused， and had to read over sections twice to understand， but i fault myself for that， rather than the book。 。。。more

Brief is right as the book is only 81 pages。 The topics were interesting but my appetite was never satisfied before the author moved on to another subject。 Each topic should have been as long as this entire book。

Listened on audio on Libby。 I’d like to reread again at some point since physics， for me， requires deep listening and moments to pause/rewind so that I have time to process。 Would be worth owning a copy。 The author makes complexity accessible to the layman。
